Hardraw Force Heritage Center
Designed by
D. Mark Thompson the main structure was completed in 2010 using local builders and
materials; it was featured by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority in their
recent Best New Building Award publication.
We are opening in Spring 2014 with an exhibition of black and white images from D M T's forthcoming book
"Heart of The Dales".
We hope to open a new information resource along with the 1816
Gallery which will feature contemporary art, paintings, sculpture and ceramics.
Photographs show the site prior and during construction and part of the gallery under floor
heating installation.
The Heritage Center will also include a tea room, serving hot and cold drinks, cakes, ice cream and
sandwiches etc...
Waterfall and Woodlands Walk
Hardraw Force England's Highest Single Drop Waterfall is set in fifteen acres of woodland.
In the late 1800's the Lord Wharncliffe constructed a series of pathways (some paved with local stone)
and bridges linking the Inn, Waterfall, the upper Shaw Gill Falls and his Simonstone Hall Shooting Lodge.
Four of these pathways are on our land and we are in the process of restoring them to their former glory.
